Car Insurance Pontiac (Car Insurance). my drivers license expired yesterday. I paid for my renewal, but awaiting license in mail. can i drive?my drivers license expired yesterday. I paid for my renewal, but awaiting license in mail. can i drive? state of california Everyone in California is aware of the extra time needed to obtain the new counter proof license. If you are stopped the police can run your license and determine if the fees are on file. If so no harm no foul. Don't worry about it. This situation has also been the topic on several T.V news segments, and most say it can take up to 4 months to get your license. I think the police are quite lenient in following the law. I know people who have had their driver's license expired and the police do nothing (the Governor of Montana was caught by the press, driving several months without a driver's license and the question that was asked was, was his insurance good if he caused an accident and his driver's license was expired). The police are tough if you are driving with a suspended license, but lenient if you had a memory lapse. Auto parts : Spark Plug Tube Seal Set Acura 1995 . Spark Plug Wire Alfa Romeo 1996 . Pontiac . How to Install a Corvette C5 ExhaustGeneral Motors released the first Chevrolet Corvette in 1953. Production of the 1953 Corvette took place in Flint, Michigan, and over the following decades new generations of the Corvette went into production. The fifth generation Corvette was made from 1997 to 2004 and is considered the largest redesign of the sports car since the original, according to Edmunds. Known as the C5, the fifth generation included a brand new all-aluminum third generation LS1 engine, as compared to the V8 included in the fourth generation. C5 owners have an option of installing aftermarket components like exhaust for further performance gains. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need New exhaust system Socket set Floor Jack and jack stands Penetrating oil Gloves Protective glassesRemoving Stock Exhaust Step by Step : 1 Open the hood and disconnect the vehicle's battery using your socket set. 2 Lift the car off the ground using a floor jack. Refer to the owner manual for the correct floor jack mounting positions. Secure the car off the ground with floor jacks. 3 Remove the four bolts mounting the swaybar in place underneath the vehicle. The swaybar is located near the rear of the transmission and runs across the undercarriage horizontally. Place the sway bar and mounting hardware off to the side. 4 Unbolt the dual muffler assemblies from the catalytic converter extension pipes at the 2-bolt flanges using a socket set. The flange location is located in between the catalytic converters and mufflers near the rear of the vehicle. The muffler assembly will now hang loosely, still connected to the exhaust hangers and rubber insulators. 5 Remove the rubber insulators holding the muffler assembly in place and place off to the side. Lift the muffler off the hangers and remove. Be sure every bolt securing the dual assemblies in place is removed. Installing New Catback System Step by Step : 1 Refer to the installation instructions included with your new exhaust system before fitting the new muffler assemblies back into the previously uninstalled rubber insulators. At this point, the muffler assemblies will hang loosely from the rubber insulators and hangers. The new muffler fasteners and clamps should not be tightened until final adjustment. 2 Install the driver's side pipe linking the muffler assembly to the 2-bolt flange that connects to the catalytic converter. If a gasket is provided, install it between the new pipe and 2-bolt flange. Reinstall the OEM fasteners removed from the flange previously. Then install the matching passenger side pipe in the same fashion. 3 Move the new exhaust components into place, at least a ½-inch from any body panels, and tighten all newly installed bolts, fasteners and clamps evenly from front to rear. Refer to the installation instructions for all bolt, fastener and clamp locations and torque specifications. 4 Reinstall the four swaybar mounting bolts, securing the swaybar in place. 5 Reconnect the vehicle battery and turn on the vehicle. Listen for any exhaust leaks, which may sound like hissing anywhere two separate pipes mate together. Tips & Warnings Wear gloves and protective glasses for safety while removing old exhaust components. Spray hangers and stuck bolts or nuts with penetrating oil for easier uninstall. Place tire blocks and place the car in park before lifting. Avoid burning yourself by allowing your C5 to cool down before touching any of the exhaust components. Pontiac . How to Install Porsche 996 Turbo ExhaustIn 1931, Ferdinand Porsche founded the Porsche Engineering Office in Stuttgart, Germany. Prior years as an automotive engineer gave Ferdinand a large knowledge base for creating quality vehicles. Volkswagen was a great inspiration to the first Porsches as Ferdinand designed the original Volkswagen Beetle. By the '60s, the first Porsche 911 went into production. Through the decades Porsche cars won acclaim on racetracks around the world. Porsche enthusiasts enjoy the craftsmanship, brand history and performance of the many models now available. The Porsche 996 Turbo is one example of the many turbocharged sports cars the company produces. Those interested in further performance gains may install an aftermarket exhaust. Difficulty:Moderate Instructions Things You'll Need Jack stands or hydraulic lift Socket set Wrench set Allen wrench set Hammer Penetrating oil Gloves Clear glasses New exhaust systemRemoving Stock Exhaust Step by Step : 1 Lift the Porsche 996 Turbo off the ground using a hydraulic lift or a floor jack and jack stands. Place the vehicle in gear with the handbrake on as well. Verify the lifted vehicle is stable before you slide underneath. 2 Remove the rear taillights. Start by opening the rear hood. Locate the bolts holding each taillight in place from within the rear compartment. Use your socket set to unbolt each taillight. Before removing, disconnect the power connector relay attached to each light by pinching and pulling the plastic relay apart where the connectors mate. 3 Unbolt the four screws securing the rear bumper's retaining strip, located on the top of the bumper. Now remove the metal retaining strip. Then remove the two top corner screws underneath the quarter panel, located near the end of the bumper. Finally, remove the six screws running along the underside of the bumper. The bumper is now completely unscrewed and almost ready for removal. 4 Unplug the license plate connector by pinching the plastic relay where the two sections mate, and pull apart firmly. This connector is located behind the license plate portion of the rear bumper. Once disconnected, remove the rear bumper, which exposes the bumper beam. 5 Remove the bumper beam after unbolting its two 16 mm bolts holding it in place along with the two heat shield screws holding the adjacent heat shields in place. 6 Open the engine bay and remove the air box by removing the securing bolts along the perimeter of the box. Refer to the installation instructions manual provided by the new exhaust for more detail. Also, unplug the four oxygen sensors located underneath the taillights by pinching the mating point of the relay connector. 7 Unbolt the 13 mm nuts holding the turbos to the headers, located in the top side of the engine bay. Then unbolt the nine bolts connecting the headers to the engine's head ports before removing the exhaust headers. 8 Remove the catalytic converter from the turbo exhaust outlets by removing the four nuts that hold it in place. Then unscrew the 6 mm Allen bolts securing the muffler clamps in place. 9 Slide the loosened muffler clamps off to one side of the exhaust piping and remove the muffler assembly. Installing New Exhaust Step by Step : 1 Install the new headers in the reverse order used when uninstalling the stock headers. Hand tighten each bolt before sequentially tightening each as specified in the new exhaust installation instructions. 2 Reconnect the headers to the turbochargers. 3 Install the oxygen sensors on the new exhaust's catalytic converters in the same way they were installed on the stock catalytic converters. 4 Use the factory vent bolts and hardware when installing the new muffler assembly when required. Then reclamp the muffler clamps in place. Shape the muffler clamps to the new muffler assembly with a hammer. 5 Install the new muffler tips as specified by the exhaust instructions. 6 Reinstall the air box, factory oxygen sensors, bumper beam, rear bumper and rear taillights in reverse order used during removal. 7 Start the engine and listen for exhaust leaks. Tips & Warnings When using a floor jack, use the points Porsche designed for the floor jack, which are in front of the wheels, underneath the rocker panels. The muffler assembly is heavy and may require additional help during removal. Loosen tight bolts and nuts with penetrating oil. Clamp the big black clip on the negative terminal of the battery. Make sure that the battery terminals are clean enough to allow current to pass through them. If they look very funky, scrape the clip around on them a little, or wash off the junk with a clean rag dipped in water and baking soda. Try not to get the stuff from the battery terminals on your hands — it has acid in it. If you do get it on your hands, just wash them off with water; it won't burn holes in you right away. 6. Just trace the wire from the plug to the distributor, remove the boot from the distributor cap terminal, add a metal extension (usually supplied with the light), replace the boot, and clamp the clip to the extension (see Figure 12-47).
